Burnley injury update ahead of Bristol City as Lucas Pires remains out

Nicky Hayen provides injury update ahead of Bristol City

Lucas Pires will once again miss out with concussion for Burnley’s game against Bristol City tomorrow.

The Brazilian suffered an accidental clash of heads during the recent Carabao Cup tie against Bradford City, which forced him to serve a 10-12 days concussion protocol.

He’s already missed the games against West Brom and Middlesbrough, but will also be absent for the visit of the Robins tomorrow.

“For the weekend it's too early,” Burnley boss Nicky Hayen confirmed. “But for next Tuesday [against Wrexham], he will be available.”

Elsewhere on the team news front, Josh Laurent comes back into consideration after serving his one-match ban against Middlesbrough in midweek.

Deadline day signings Igor Julio and Reo Hatate will also be available, having not been registered in time to make their debuts on Wednesday.

Hayen warned, however, that Hatate is a lot further forward than Julio in terms of match sharpness.

“So Reo had a really good pre-season, played already games, so he's ready to play, to start if it's necessary,” the Clarets boss said.

“Igor needs of course a little bit more time because he already played a long time without games in pre-season.

“He did training sessions but of course he needs a little bit of time. But step by step we let him grow.”

While Largie Ramazani impressed during a 45-minute outing off the bench against Middlesbrough, the winger is still in need of building up his sharpness.

“With this 45 minutes and not having a reaction is a really good sign,” he added. “This is what we try to build up gradually like going up to 60, 75, up to 90.

“But the problem is also like you see some players who didn't. For example, Anel [Ahmedhodzic] who played 30 minutes in pre-season, he’s played already three games, three consecutive games, 90 minutes, so his body feels it also.

“But we try to push our players as far as possible without having injuries.”

Elsewhere, Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Josh Cullen, Enock Agyei, Jaydon Banel and Ashley Barnes all remain sidelined.
