Burnley FC to host Sunderland in pre-season friendly

The Clarets have lined up an attractive pre-season friendly against Premier League side Sunderland at Turf Moor.

Burnley will entertain the Black Cats on Saturday, July 30 (kick-off 3pm) as a key part of their pre-season programme.

The fixture against Steve Bruce’s side will be the Clarets’ only warm-up game at home before the new Championship season kicks off for Eddie Howe’s men a week later.

Sunderland’s last visit to Turf Moor brought them a 3-1 defeat in September, 2009 as two goals from David Nugent and a Graham Alexander penalty gave the Clarets three Premier League points.

Admission prices and ticket details for the Sunderland game and further pre-season fixtures will be announced at a later date.

Altrincham (A) Saturday, July 9 (kick-off 3pm).

Bury (A) Tuesday, July 12 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Bristol Rovers (A), Tuesday, July 19 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Oldham Athletic (A), Tuesday, July 26 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Sunderland (H), Saturday, July 30 (kick-off 3pm).
