Burnley FC complete Ings deal

Ings has signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the highly rated 19-year-old.

Ings becomes the Clarets’ fifth new signing of the current transfer window and resumes his working partnership with Eddie Howe, his former manager at Bournemouth.

The Winchester-born forward played in both the Cherries’ youth set-up and first team under Howe, making his senior debut alongside current Burnley assistant manager Jason Tindall.

“Ed and Jason brought me through when I was first at Bournemouth and gave me the opportunity and it’s good to be back working with them, day-in, day-out to try and improve as a player,” said Ings.

“There were a few teams that were interested but the whole time there was interest there was only one place I wanted to be, with my old management team.

“It means a lot to me that they are going to give me a chance and hopefully I can repay them.

“Burnley is a big club and it’s good to be here and I can’t wait to play for them.”

Ings suffered a long-term injury absence during the early part of his Bournemouth career and was loaned out to Dorchester Town at the start of last season.

But after returning to Dean Court he cemented a first-team place and went on to play a key role in Bournemouth’s run to the League One play-offs.

Ings scored eight goals in 28 appearances, including six in the last nine games of the season to make himself hot property over the summer with one Premier League club competing seriously with the Clarets for his signature.

Ings has taken squad number 14 and as well as being available to face Cardiff City next Saturday will be eligible to play for Burnley in the Carling Cup second round against Barnet.
