Zian Flemming struck twice off the bench during the extra 30 minutes as the Clarets took longer than expected to claim an otherwise deserved victory.
Scott Parker opted to make all 11 changes, but they were still a number of eye-catching displays.
Here’s how Burnley’s players rated:
5. Lucas Pires - 6/10
Got forward well early on, always overlapping for Lyle Foster down the left. But produced some sloppy passes as the game wore on. Photo: Molly Darlington
6. Joe Bauress - 8/10
A first senior start to be proud of. Looked confident on the ball and provided the cross for Foster’s goal. Photo: Burnley FC
7. Tommy McDermott - 8/10
Didn’t look out of place at all, also on his first senior start. Composed on the ball and showed some clever footwork playing slightly further ahead. Photo: Warren Little
8. Jay Rodriguez - 7/10
Played in a slightly deeper role which seemed to suit him, linking up play nicely. Also wore the captain’s armband from the start for the first time. Photo: Warren Little
