Burnley defender Long extends his stay at Rochdale

CLARETS’ defender Kevin Long has extended his loan stay at Rochdale until the end of April.

Long joined Dale on an initial month-long loan in January and has since made four appearances for John Coleman’s side.

The Irishman will now stay at Spotland for the maximum 93 days permitted, allowing him to play in all bar one of Rochdale’s remaining games as they look to stay in League One.

Long has reportedly been Rochdale’s top performer since linking up again with Coleman following a successful loan spell under the former Accrington Stanley manager at the Crown Ground earlier this season.

The 21-year-old centre-back has helped Dale to two wins and a draw to lift them off the foot of the table ahead of Saturday’s trip to Colchester United.
