Clarets boss Sean Dyche was a proud man after seeing his side comprehensively see off promotion rivals Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Turf Moor.

Burnley blew Forest out of the water in the first half, with Scott Arfield firing in the opener gayer nutmegging former Claret Danny Fox, before Sam Vokes netted twice to take his tally to 18 for the season.

Djamel Abdoun pulled one back late on after seeing his penalty saved by Tom Heaton, but Dyche said: “It was top class, free flowing football and looked like we could score at will against a very strong Nottingham Forest side.

“To put a side out like that, with injuries, is a marker of the size of the club, the size of the budget and the strength they’ve got in depth there.

“I thought we were absolutely first class.

“Some people have said that’s as good as the football they’ve seen at Turf Moor for a long, long time.”
