Clarets boss Sean Dyche is open to using the loan market to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

Dyche’s only signing during the season, after taking over in October, was midfielder Alex Kacaniklic, who joined on a temporary basis from Premier League Fulham at the end of February.

And that is an avenue he will look down again, as he looks to manage the finances of the club wisely - having already brought in keeper Tom Heaton from Bristol City on a free transfer.

Predecessor Eddie Howe was never a huge fan of the loan system, which he used sparingly, but Dyche will use whatever route he feels will best suit himself and the club: “We’ve got to be flexible, open-minded and thinking of how we can find the right balance between the financial model of the club, and still getting in the people who we think are necessary to move it forward again. We’ll see what we need and when it’s appropriate.

“The rules are the same, whether you’re buying or loaning a player - all the things have to align properly and appropriately from both ends.

“We’re open minded to that of course. We always have been. People ask why you didn’t do this or that, it has to align and be appropriate. Some get nearly there and it doesn’t happen, and things like that.”
