Burnley boss keeps his focus

Championship leaders Burnley go in search of an eighth-successive league win, on a ground where Dyche has won 10 and drawn one in 11 return visits since leaving the Lions.

Dyche is only focussed on retaining the performance levels his players have delivered in a record-breaking start to the season, which has equalled Burnley’s best, back in 1897.

He said: “As I suggest with records against us, I don’t really do them, it’s about turning up on the day and putting a performance in, that’s what wins football matches.

“I think winning is the name of the game, it’s what I talk about.

“That’s what the focus is. It’s not that easy, but I stay open-minded about what you can achieve.

“I had some good achievements as a player, my staff did, and I think these players can achieve what they want.

“This group has found that open-mindedness to perform, playing with no fear, they know they are organised, they know the structure and certainly know they are fit enough.

“Add in talent, and you have a chance of performing.”

Burnley will be without the suspended Keith Treacy after his sending-off in the 2-0 Capital One Cup exit to West Ham on Tuesday night, but welcome back David Jones after suspension, and Dyche hopes to have Scott Arfield and Dean Marney available after knocks: “They weren’t ready for Tuesday, we had to make a judgement call but it was a clear one for us, they have a much better chance for Millwall.”
