Jeremy Sarmiento made 35 appearances for the Clarets last term, scoring four times, as Scott Parker’s side stormed back to the Premier League with 100 points to their name.

The Ecuador international wasn’t a regular starter though and, unlike Bashir Humphreys, Jaidon Anthony, Marcus Edwards and Zian Flemming, the Clarets opted not to make his loan permanent.

That saw the 23-year-old return to his parent club Brighton, where he’s since been loaned out once again – for a fourth time – to Italian outfit Cremonese, where he’s now a teammate of Jamie Vardy.

Sarmiento has struggled for game time in Serie A though, making just seven appearances all season – all coming from the bench.

His last appearance came in November though and he hasn’t even been a part of their match day squad for the past three games.

Now it’s being reported that the winger could be about to be recalled early and sent to Championship promotion chasers Middlesbrough.

The Teesside outfit are currently in talks with Brighton over what would be a permanent deal, rather than a loan.

According to the Northern Echo, Sarmiento is keen on the move and personal terms won't be a problem if and when an agreement is reached between the clubs.

Sarmiento has won promotion from the Championship in each of the past two seasons, helping Ipswich Town reach the top flight before his year at Turf Moor.

Boro currently sit second in the table, six points adrift of leaders Coventry City and two clear of Sarmiento’s former side Ipswich in third.
