Deep in to stoppage time, with the Clarets leading through an exquisite Sam Vokes header, Championship strugglers MK Dons had the chance to level from the spot against Brighton.

Clarets skipper Heaton gathered at his post as Wallace volleyed through a crowd, Price then struck the upright with an attempt from outside the box while Coady sliced in to the stands.

Michal Zyro then missed the target with a header from Wallace's delivery after furtively giving Michael Keane a shove to work the space on the penalty spot.

Saville then fired in to the arms of Heaton from Jeremy Helan's pull back once the full back was found superbly by Zyro.

However, the Clarets struck against the run of play as Vokes scored his 10th goal in 14th games with a splendid header.

Barton supplied the cross and the striker's header arced over Carl Ikeme to give the hosts the lead.

Saville drove harmlessly wide as the home side looked for a way back in to the game but disaster struck deep in to stoppage time.
