The one-time operational director relinquished his role just over 12 months ago after taking out an Individual Voluntary Arrangement, but has informed the board that he intends to return.

Flood retains a significant shareholding, 25%, but after his IVA ran out, he will resume his position, having previously been a director for seven years.

His return will take the board up to seven members, having been as low as four until Brian Nelson’s arrival in December, and Terry Crabb on Thursday.

Co-chairman John Banaszkiewicz revealed at the shareholders’ meeting at Turf Moor in December that the club were speaking to Flood about a return: “We are in discussion with Brendan about him coming back on board.

“I am a partner with Brendan on the university (UCFB) which is going incredibly well.

“He has 25% of the shares so he would like to still be part of the board and we are in the process of discussing it.”
