Having swapped the KC Stadium for Turf Moor, he is now aiming to help Burnley - who followed Hull as Championship runners-up - retain their place in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has agreed a three-year deal, and is looking forward to the challenge: “It always seems to happen quite quickly on deadline, literally two days ago I heard of the interest and it’s gone through pretty quickly.

“I’m delighted. It’s a big challenge, like it was last year with Hull to stay up.

“It’s the same sort of thing with Burnley. We did it last year and there’s no reason why we can’t do it again with Burnley.

“The FA Cup success was huge, but staying in the Premier League gave us more satisfaction.

“The experience with Hull, the more experience of playing week in, week out in the Premier League gives you that confidence you deserve to be at this level, and I’m sure we can kick on.”
