Aston Villa named favourites to land Burnley's £40m-rated sensation amid Leicester City interest
The summer transfer window is now on the horizon, and it will be fascinating to see the comings and goings at Turf Moor in what should be a busy few months ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
One player who looks bound to be in the transfer rumour headlines throughout the summer months is Burnley sensation Dwight McNeil, who continues to gain new admirers.
Over the weekend, bookmakers SkyBet priced up the England U21 international's potential suitors, and Aston Villa have been made the clear, 3/1 favourites to seal the deal, ahead of Leicester City (11/1), Manchester City and Southampton (both 12/1).
Last summer, the Burnley Express revealed the extent of the interest in McNeil, with Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan also understood to be keeping tabs on the player.
They're now both priced up at a fairly distant 16/1, but are still ahead of the likes of Everton and Leeds United (both 20/1).
It is worth noting that the Clarets ace is odds on to still be on the books at Turf Moor once the summer transfer window closes.
Given that McNeil only signed his latest contract extension back in October, taking his deal up until 2024, Burnley will not allow him to leave on the cheap, and could demand upwards of £40m for the 21-year-old star.
Meanwhile, Sean Dyche's side are finalising preparations for this evening's clash against Fulham. The Clarets have all but secured their safety, and could confirm Cottagers' relegation with a win in west London.
