Andre Bikey looks to be an important part of Burnley FC team

The Cameroonian has had to be patient since Eddie Howe took over the reins at Turf Moor, only featuring as a second half substitute in the 0-0 draw against Scunthorpe United in Howe’s first game in charge, prior to Saturday’s defeat at Bristol City.

It was his first start since Brian Laws’ last game in charge on December 28th.

But Bikey now hopes to be an integral part in the Clarets final push.

He said: “We lost the three points and we now have to focus on the next game.

“As I have said all the time, we have got a good squad.

“We lost but we have to focus on the next game.

“I think if we win the next one it will be a big lift for us to try and get back into the top six.”

Goals from Brett Pitman and Nicky Maynard in either half condemned the Clarets to a 2-0 defeat in the Championship.

And Bikey insists that he’s struggling to erase the frustration from Saturday’s performance.

“It was a big frustration, not only for me but for all the team because we feel that we should do better than that,” Bikey said.

“We felt at the start of the second half we were playing better, doing what we had to do and could get at least a point but the second goal made it difficult for us.

“We tried but it didn’t happen for us, and that happens sometimes.

“It was a big disappointment and there’s not much more you can say than that.”

Now Bikey is intent on utilising the two-week international window to full effect to ensure he’s ready for the final nine games of the Championship season.

Bikey said: “It’s a good time because we know what we have to do.

“I think we will meet with the manager and see what we are going to do.

“We will rest but we have to be careful too because everybody has to be fit and take care of themselves because it’s a long break.

“I don’t know what the programme will be but we will meet with the manager and see what we have to do.”
