Padiham suffer weekend to forget

Padiham managed to get their games played but remain rooted to the bottom of the table after losing out in both.

On Saturday they finished their innings against Salesbury on 178-6 with Kevin Hitchon hitting 56 and Susantha Pradeep ending with figures of 6-69.

Chasing a revised total of 160, Salesbury, with help from an unbeaten 64 by Scott Wharton, reached 161-7 to win by three wickets.

The Arbories side faced Barnoldswick on Sunday who scored 236-5 courtesy of Abdul Saddique (88) and Liam Bedford (69).

Padiham’s reply fell short at 133 as they lost by 103 runs.

Clitheroe cemented their place at the top of the table despite Saturday’s game against Baxenden being abandoned.

Clitheroe managed 178-6 before Baxenden’s reply was cut short at 40-1.

They had better luck on Sunday thouugh on their way to 108-run victory over Euxton.

The Chatburn Road side posted 226-9, mainly in thanks to a Jack Dewhurst century (100) before Kashif Siddique helped dismiss Euxton for just 118.

Ribblesdale Wanderers beat Whalley by seven wickets after Ian Britcliffe helped to bowl them out with figures of 6-30.

It was a brighter Sunday for Whalley as Richard Palmer (55), Saurabh Bandekar (54 not out) and Richard Lamb (51) brought Whalley to 189-6, chasing down Earby’s innings of 188-8, to record a four-wicket victory.

Read had a weekend to forget, losing by two wickets to Edenfield on Saturday after posting 136-9 before succumbing to Great Harwood by six wickets the following day despite hitting an improved 191-7, Mohammed Jamal top scoring with 52 not out.

In the other matches this weekend Cherry Tree’s game against Barnoldswick was abandoned on Saturday, as was Earby’s against Euxton.

On Sunday, Baxenden v Salesbury was called off while Brooksbottom beat Ribblesdale Wanderers by 115 runs; Cherry Tree lost by seven wickets to Oswaldtwistle and Edenfield beat Settle by 15 runs.
