‘Burnley Express’ cricket ace James Anderson awarded OBE

Burnley’s very own cricketing ace James Anderson has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honour’s List.

And he has been quick to thank his family in Burnley and the support he received starting the game in Burnley.

His latest honour comes just two months after he became England’s most successful Test bowler when he overtook Sir Ian Botham’s record while playing in the West Indies. He has now taken 403 Test wickets for England.

Anderson (32) is reported as saying: “This means an enormous amount to me and my family. I’m very proud of my recent achievements, and this just caps it off.

“These achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of my family, friends and everyone at Burnley CC, Lancs CCC and England.”
