Colne skier named in Team GB squad for Winter Olympics

Skier Dave Ryding will compete at his second Winter Olympics in Sochi after being confirmed in the Team GB squad this morning.

Born in Bretherton, Chorley, Ryding now lives in Colne, having developed his skills on dry ski slopes across the North of England, including Pendle.

Ryding, nicknamed Rocket by teammates, enjoyed a successful 2013 campaign, becoming the first British skier ever to win an overall Europa Cup title, alpine skiing’s second tier tour.

Four years ago at the Vancouver Games, he ranked 27th.

The Sochi Games start on February 7th.
