The 35-year-old is set to make his Bellator debut on the undercard of Will Brooks versus Dave Jansen at 136 in Irvine, California, just 20 months after rupturing his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments.

The former BAMMA lightweight champion, who defended his title against Andre Winner at Wembley Arena two-and-a-half years ago, sustained the horrific injury in his final sparring session ahead of a proposed match-up with Rich Clementi.

But two operations under orthopaedic surgeon David Sands Johnson at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, four months of rest and recuperation while nursing his leg in a brace, sessions with physio Emma Fletcher and strength conditioning coach Dave Bell at Sportesse PT in Chorley, and an intense schedule of training, has seen the MMA star make a miraculous recovery.

The fight schedule begins at 4-30 p.m. Eastern Time on Spike TV (on Friday), which equates to approximately 12-30 a.m. on Saturday local time.
