Burnley maintain excellent start to the season with 11-try victory at Ashton

Burnley's first XV continued their excellent start to the season, running in 11 tries on the road at Ashton under Lyne .

The home side couldn’t cope with Burnley’s pace and ball handling skills, in an impressive outing.

Lee Ferrier and Adam Wallis scored a brace apiece, and James Redfern, Luca Angelone, Jack Stockdale, Ben Healy, Alex Woodcock, skipper Tom Ives and debutant Rob Lawless all scored a try apiece.

Redford added two conversions, and Lawless two as Burnley won 63-5.

The seconds lost 31-21 at home to Carnforth.Joe Barlow, Austen Ralph and Rick Del Strother were Burnley’s try scorers.

The thirds had a nailbiting 34-33 win at Thornton.

The Under 14s won 42-12 at Orrell with tries from Liam Bythell, Bram Richmond, Will Parkinson and man of the match Roshane Hemmings. Dec Dutton and Charly Haynes added a couple of kicks.

Tomorrow, the firsts and thirds host Thornton and Aspull, and the seconds are at Southport, all 3 p.m.

On Sunday, the juniors are training. A rugby aware course and Macmillan coffee morning begin at 10 a.m.In the afternoon Burnley ladies host Littleborough at 2 p.m.
