Singleton facing biggest fight of his career on his return!

The 26-year-old, ranked 11th in Britain in the 147lb division, suffered his first setback in 21 professional contests against the “Savage” in March at the Ice Arena in Hull.

Singleton was then forced to withdraw from a bout with former British and WBA Continental title challenger Stevie Williams at Preston Guild Hall in October after sustaining a fractured eye socket in training.

But, after nine months out, Woodhouse’s conqueror will mark his return at Winter Gardens in Blackpool tomorrow.

“It’s the biggest fight of my career, even with the Woodhouse and Eggington fights,” he said. “It’s another test and a new challenge. I need to redeem myself and come back from that defeat.

“I need to show people that I’ve still got it, that it’s still in my heart and prove that losing hasn’t affected me mentally. I want it more than I ever have.

“This is just the start for me. It’s a new start for me mentally. I’ve learned so much in the past nine months and I feel stronger physically and mentally.

“I’ve learned to listen more and not just do things my own way. I’m doing exactly what Karl Ince tells me to. People are already seeing improvements in me.

“I think they could see a totally different fighter. I’m sticking to my strengths - I’ll be classier, I’ll move well and I’ll be a counter puncher.

“I’ll be a slick boxer, not a brawler. I’m going to use my boxing brain because that’s how I perform at my best.”

And, quite impressively, Singleton is in line to be crowned a champion at three different weights.

The one-time Sandygate ABC representative claimed two straps at both light-welterweight (beating Santos Medrano and Woodhouse) and welterweight (beating Laszlo Fazekas and Steve Jevons) and will now look to land the British Challenge title - a new belt manufactured and released by the BBBofC - at super welterweight.

“It makes me 100 per cent more determined with a title on the line but I’m completely focussed ahead of all of my fights,” said SIngleton, who has undertaken a new diet with the help of stablemate Tomi Tatham.

“I’d be the first person to win it at this weight which would be special. Jack Arnfield and Ryan Doyle have already won one in their respective divisions.

“I saw the belt when watching them and I thought it looked tidy. I got straight on to my manager Steve Woods about it.”

He added: “I could win another belt at another weight which would be a great achievement. If I win this then I’ll have won belts at three different weights.

“I’ve achieved more than anything I could’ve dreamed of when starting out as an amateur. I’m happy with what I’ve done.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to winning ways and erasing memories from earlier in the year.

“I’m looking forward to picking up another title, responding to defeat and ending the year with a win. I want to perform like I’ve never been away from the ring.”
