The Year 10 students have been selected by the school to take the sporting message into primary schools in Burnley.

Both were selected by the Burnley school’s PE department and recently attended the Youth Sport Trust Young Ambassadors Conference at the University of Central Lancashire.

“I am really proud to be a Young Ambassador,” said Tiarnan, who runs for Pendle Athletic Club and will compete in the Northern cross-country championshops for his club soon.

“It was interesting on the course as we were taught what characteristics we need to be a good leader, we were taught to be determined and what we need to be teach multi-events.”

Colette (14) is a keen netballer and plays for Ribble Valley Netball Club as well as swimming. She also attended the conference which consisted of a variety of workshops ranging from a personal development session, background to the school games, and team building.

“I am pleased to be picked as an ambassador as we can now help to influence the primary school children and encourage them to join in at sports.”

“We are confident that these two Young Ambassadors will be good role models for all our pupils as well as the primary schools that they work with,” said Blessed Trinity’s Claire Juriansz, curriculum leader for PE and Sport.
