A new care home opening its doors in Clitheroe won’t just offer a sense of security and new beginnings; it will also be about people, choice, community and luxury living.

Castlewood, on Higher Standen Drive, will put people at its core; creating space to carry on living a life you want to, with a true sense of belonging and community.

Viewings of Castlewood, purpose-built for Wrightcare, will be available from October 20 and it will showcase a way of life designed to provide a comfortable, supportive environment, promoting independence and happiness.

Rob Blackburn, Head of Operations, said: “What we’re offering is a complete and enjoyable life.

“We’ve got a variety of indoor and outdoor living spaces where people can continue to live their life as they want to. “If somebody likes to garden, there’s a greenhouse and ground floor rooms all have direct access to a private outside space with individual raised flower beds. There are lots of places for residents to be involved.”

At Castlewood, 68 rooms are split over two floors, each floor has two wings with their own lounge, dining room, 17 en-suite rooms and an assisted bathroom.

Rob says: “People will be able live in a neighbourhood, getting to know their fellow residents and staff very well, creating a close community. We’re seeking to build a sense of inclusion and belonging.”

“All of our rooms are light, spacious, beautifully decorated and incorporate ensuite facilities. As residents look out of their full height windows, they will be able to survey attractive and lively surroundings, continuing to feel connected with the wider community they’re a part of.”

All residents have access to communal facilities including, a café and bar area, library, hair salon, and an activity space. Our Activities & Wellbeing team provides a varied and engaging programme for residents to choose from that inspires communication, social interaction, movement, reminiscence and more.

Says Rob: “There’s also a state-of-the-art Wellness Centre which includes power assisted wellness technology that will enable you to continue to maintain mobility and be as active as you wish.

“It’s a safe space for those people that want to have a more active lifestyle and an opportunity to gradually increase movement or simply try something new”

Says Rob: “Should you choose to come and live with us at Castlewood, we make it a priority to understand what matters to you and to support you in achieving the life you want to live in a safe and comfortable environment”

Castlewood will provide person-centred care tailored to individual needs, including respite care, dementia care, end of life and residential care.

The home will coordinate support from the NHS when required, to help people living at Castlewood to remain in the home and be supported with their health needs.

Mitchell Letherby is Castlewood’s Commissioning Home Manager, and has worked in social care for over 14 years.

For Mitchell, it has “always been a passion to create homes where people feel truly valued, safe and cared for”.

A key aspect of this cleverly-designed home is the emphasis on excellence, exceptional care and safety - and that is being supported with hi-tech digital management systems.

Says Mitchell: “We’re using technology and systems to free up our staff, enabling them to spend much more time with residents, and really get to know them.

“We want to deliver care in a way that individuals want and need, treating everyone with the compassion and dignity that they deserve.”
