It's just ten weeks until Saudi Arabia and Russia get the 21st World Cup underway at the Olimpiyskiy stadion Luzhniki in Moscow .
The tournament has become synonymous with high-drama since it kicked off in 1930, with heroes and villains being born every four years under the watchful eye of millions worldwide.
As the countdown to Russia 2018 begins we start our countdown of the legendary tournament's 100 most iconic moments.
100. Shaka Hislop denies Sweden, 2006
Despite possessing the talented striking duo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrik Larsson, the Swedes were unable to break down a plucky Trinidad and Tobago team - largely thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Their efforts would see the Caribbean team pick up their first ever World Cup point.
99. Neymar carried off on stretcher, 2014
The Brazilian poster boy's tournament came to a premature end when he suffered a fractured vertebra against Colombia. In the following game teammates David Luiz and Julio Cesar would hold up the then Barcelona player's shirt - before being ruthlessly punished by Germany in a 7-1 defeat.
98. South Africa score in South Africa, 2010
Siphiwe Tshabalala set the 2010 World Cup alight when he walloped home the opening goal of the tournament for hosts South Africa.
97. Rooney camera rant, 2010
"Nice to see your home fans boo you, that's loyal supporters", were Wayne Rooney's choice of words for England fans who had made the 8,000 mile trip to see their team put in a pitiful performance against Algeria.

Hungary dismantled tournament newcomers El Salvador at the 1982 World Cup, with striker László Kiss picking up a hat-trick.
95. Suker inspired Croatia thrash Germany, 1998
A Davor Suker led Croatia were France '98's dark horses putting Germany to the sword in a comprehensive 3-0 victory. The Balkan side would go out to eventual winners France in the semi-final.
94. US physio knocked out by chloroform, 1930
During a feisty affair between Argentina and the United States at the first World Cup, trainer Jack Coll was called into action following a combative tackle on one of the American's players. Running onto the pitch Coll dropped his medical kit smashing a bottle of chloroform and sedating himself in the process.
93. Jeff Agoos’ beautiful own goal, 2002
Jeff Agoos scored the goal of his career in a game against Portugal at the South Korea/Japan World Cup. The only problem was, it was into his own net.
92. Defending champions Uruguay don’t show up, 1934
Reigning champions Uruguay took pettiness to a new level when they refused to defend the trophy in Italy, four years after their triumph. Italy had seemingly snubbed the Uruguayan's invitation in 1930. The Italians would have the last laugh picking up their first championship.
91. Maicon's impossible goal, 2010
During a cagey encounter between North Korea and Brazil, full-back Maicon defied physics with an acute strike. The Brazilians would win the game 2-1, but exit the tournament in the quarter-finals to the Netherlands.
