I’ve known Mr Ennis from year seven until year 10 as he was a part of my form. He would always go on about the war and how we were in year seven would make us how we are until year 11 and we’d ‘set in concrete’.

At the time we found it funny, but now we miss it.

We have so many memories with him, but they’ll live on with the many generations he touched and inspired.

R.I.P Sir. ❤

You were a great teacher, and a great man. It was an honour to have known and to have been taught by you from 2003-2008. Always remember having a laugh with you whether it was talking about the Burnley vs Wolves games ranging through English class homework. I could always relate to you and were one of few teachers I could ever feel I could talk to. Although I moved away from Burnley some years ago, I’ve always felt your advice and guidance has got me to where I am today.

One of the things we used to love about Mick was his ability to tell a brilliant story. He had a bit of a gift for it.

When we were in our teens and too lazy to really engage with the work he’d tell us a story about a cricket match, a rugby game or a famous cup final. They were his own stories and they taught us about life. About what it meant to be good and well mannered men, to be competitive and brave. Honoured to have been taught by him. What a brilliant man.

James Barnes and Simon Holgate gave Dog a two-goal advantage at half-time.

The locals stepped things up in the second half, with Holgate netting his second, and captain and man of the match Nick Lord fired home a fourth from the penalty spot, before Aiden Thomas scored his first Dog goal. Jordy Timmins lashed home a superb sixth, before an unfortunate own goal from Marsden.

Dog are due to visit Church at King George’s on Sunday.
