Women hurt after violence at wedding hotel

The magistrates’ court heard a woman was taken to hospital after a taxi knocked her over and ran over her head as the driver set off with two young children in the back.

Another woman, who was attacked by three women and a man, also needed hospital treatment following the incident, at the Mercure Blackburn Foxfields Country Hotel, Billington.

Christopher James Dickinson (31), of St Gabriel’s Avenue, Blackburn, was sent on bail to Preston Crown Court after pleading not guilty to assaulting Roland Jones causing him actual bodily harm and damaging a car belonging to Naveed Ahmed.

Mr Jones was knocked unconscious during the alleged attack.
