Wind and rain to continue in Christmas run-up

After a battering by strong winds this week and the first snowfall of the winter, the picture is set to remain unsettled in the run-up to Christmas.

Gale force gusts and hailstorms were frequent in Burnley and Pendle on Wednesday and Thursday while some spots in the area saw a first smattering of snowfall last night.

And Craven Weather is predicting more of the unsettled conditions seen this week throughout the remainder of Advent.

Bands of wind and rain are forecast to continue to move in from the Atlantic crossing the country and will be interspersed with cooler, showery conditions.

Temperatures are anticipated to be cold enough for snow at times but this is expected to be largely confined to higher ground.
