West Craven to fly Yorkshire Rose flags this summer

On Wednesday, July 24th a group of cyclists, runners and walkers will be flying the flag of the white rose county as their leg of the Great Yorkshire relay passes through the historic West Craven area.

The group will be charting the “real” Yorkshire boundary as they complete a 640-mile 12-day cycle route.

On July 24th, this will mean passing through places including Slaidburn, Newton, Dunsop Bridge, Whitewell, Waddington, West Bradford, Grindleton, Rimington, Barnoldswick, Salterforth and Kelbrook.

Mike Pulford said: “I am a member of the Yorkshire Ridings Society and am helping coordinate this part of the journey by encouraging locals there who feel a loyalty to Yorkshire to come out and greet the cyclists.

“Yorkshire Rose flags will also be given out in each parish with the request that they are flown in the parish on August 1st(Yorkshire Day), this and every year.

“The cyclists will have a large Yorkshire flag with them and they would be delighted if a local would carry it through the village as they pass through.”
