Police have appealed for motorists to only drive if their journey is essential as Storm Dennis sweeps across the county.

Lancashire Police made the appeal tonight as surface water on the county's road networks caused various accidents that is putting more demand on officers.
A spokesman for the police said: "We are appealing to everyone, please ask yourselves is my journey essential?
"If it is give yourselves plenty of time and drive to the road conditions."
