Storm Dennis: High winds bring down tree in popular Padiham park

A huge tree was brought down by high winds last night in Padiham's Memorial Park.

The tree came down and blocked a path just past the children's play area as Storm Dennis swept into the area yesterday.

This startling image of the tree was captured by resident Sue Holden. The tree has been reported to Burnley Parks Department and is expected to be removed today.

Despite the area being on amber warning from the Met Office, Padiham and the Ribble Valley, appear to have escaped flooding and major damage.

It was a different story last weekend as Storm Ciara swept into the area causing major flooding of shops, homes and businesses in the area.
