Warburtons are supporting Cancer Research UK for the next four years and the Warburton family are donating £300,000 as well as challenging their employees to match the family’s donation through employee fundraising.

So far the Burnley branch have raised more than £9,000 through cake sales, sponsored bike rides, runs and a netball match but they decided to try their posing skills with a staff calendar.

“It’s all very tasteful,” said Matthew Bryan who is a warehouse operative at the Billington Road site and is also the Burnley depot’s charity champion, working with a fundraising committee. We have recreated a few famous poses such as the iconic tennis photograph using one of our giant crumpets as the tennis ball and we also have a pancake snap in February.

“We make 50 different lines so we had plenty to go at and all the staff who joined in are from Burnley, whether they work on the shop floor, as managers or in the warehouse.

“We are all different shapes and sizes because cancer affects people of different shapes and sizes. It’s all for a good cause.”

The calendar, set to be out at the end of November, will initially be in-house but the Matthew is hoping it will be available at some public outlets to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
