More than 140 parishioners walked from St Peter’s Church in Simonstone to St John’s in Read led by the Haslingden and Helmshore Marching Band. Among those taking part in the 150-year-old tradition were Guides, Brownies, the choir, and children from the Sunday school, praise group and toddler group.

Event organiser and church warden Mr John Aizlewood said:”It was absolutely fantastic. We were lucky with the weather and it went off without a hitch. It’s very pleasing to be able to keep the tradition going.”
