VIDEO: Police raids in Burnley net 59 suspected burglars

A MASSIVE crackdown on criminals in Burnley has seen police arrest 59 suspected burglars.

Officers have recovered almost £7,500 worth of suspected stolen property and executed 12 search warrants under Operation Julius.

Burglary figures have dropped from 108 in December and 81 in January to just 54 in February when the anti-crime operation was launched.

The latest raids on suspected criminals were carried out on Wednesday at four addresses across Burnley and Padiham searching for suspected stolen goods and drugs.

Crack police teams swooped on properties in Padgate Place, Harold Avenue and Mere Court.

One was man arrested and charged – Roy White (39) of Dean Street, Padiham. He was charged with abstracting electricity and is due to appear before Burnley Magistrates Court on March 6th.

Insp. Carole Langhorn, of Burnley Police, said: “It sends a message out to the community that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.

“We want to reassure the public that we take it very seriously and act on any information the public give us.”
