Former Park High School student Charis Deighton (25) is hopeful her self-produced showreel will catch television bosses attention and bag herself a spot on the upcoming series “So You Think You Can Be A Blue Peter Presenter”.

The X Factor-style show, which is due to be launched in summer, will be hosted by cheeky duo Dick and Dom. If Charis, who has been a fan of Blue Peter since a young age, was to be crowned overall winner she would join the present team of Barney Harwood and Helen Skelton.

The former Salford University student, who currently works at Manchester’s Radley store, said: “Presenting is always something I have been interested in. Apparently, over 20,000 people have applied for this show so far.”

And talking on her showreel, Charis, a fan of hiking, snowboarding and physical challenges, added: “Blue Peter has encouraged thousands of young people, including myself, to explore, to learn, to grow, to achieve, and to just plain have fun since 1958.

“I would like to continue that excellent tradition by becoming your next Blue Peter presenter.”
