The Burnley Express highlighted the issue earlier this week when Burnley and Pendle county councillors Usman Arif and Mohammed Iqbal expressed their anger that no money from the project would be allocated to these boroughs.
We approached Lancashire County Council for comment on the matter which has left local councillors and residents “profoundly disappointed”, with many complaining that the state of our roads are in urgent need of repair.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: “We're investing the funding we've received from government as part of Network North to address a number of highways priorities, including drainage, streetlights, renewing road markings, and localised resurfacing schemes in line with advice from the Department for Transport.
"The £7.3m. Network North funding is a welcome addition to our existing £33m. highways programme, which already includes a number of improvements to road surfaces in Burnley and Pendle.
“We have used survey data about the condition of our transport infrastructure across the county to prioritise the Network North investment where it will have the most impact, with Pendle allocated schemes worth over £387,000 and Burnley over £238,000.
“This includes resurfacing the full length of Bent Lane in Pendle, along with a number of schemes to replace street lighting columns, and improve drainage covering both Burnley and Pendle.
“Further Network North funding is due to be allocated to renew road markings in Burnley in the near future.”
