Five people were taken to hospital last night after an incident on the M65.
Three fire engines, from Burnley, Nelson and Colne, attended the incident involving a car on fire on the westbound side of the motorway between junctions nine and 10. Fire crews administered first aid to the victims before they were taken by ambulance to hospital.
Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the flames and police cordoned off the entrance to the motorway which caused severe traffic congestion as it coincided with the end of the Retro in the Park music festival at Towneley.
