Thug kicked taxi after row with girlfriend

A violent thug who kicked a taxi after a row with his girlfriend took his anger out on a vehicle rather than a person as he did in the past.

Craig Martin Rainford (30) had a long record, which Burnley magistrates were told, ran to 17 pages.

Rainford caused damage totalling £400 to the cab, owned by Crown Taxis, after his early morning outburst in Burnley, on June 3rd.

The defendant, who attacked the nearside rear of the Vauxhall Zafira, was caught after CCTV was checked and he was seen setting about the taxi before walking off.

He owned up straight away in interview, telling police : “I booted a car.”

The defendant was on licence from a 10 month jail term imposed for violence last September.

Rainford, of Thorn Street, Burnley, admitted damage and was ordered to pay £400 compensation.
