With support from Gannow Big Local Funding, the charity will run the classes every Tuesday evening from 7pm until March next year at the Ighten Leigh Social Club.

The classes are taught by fully qualified teachers and will be £3, but the first attendance is free.

Instructor Helana, who is herself a long time resident in the Gannow area, said: “Lighthouse Tai Chi try to make the sessions friendly and fun.

“As an addition to to being a qualified Tai Chi teacher, I am also a qualified teacher of adult education, therefore I know not to just show people Tai Chi movements and expect them to just copy what I do.

“Instead I talk to people amd teach them how different moves work on their bodies.”

Lighthouse Tai Chi have also recently provided four weeks of classes in Nelson’s Victoria Park, where over 80 attendees braved thunderstorms, high winds and sunshine to enjoy the sessions.

They were also joined by Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson for one of the sessions.

Helena continued: “We are so pleased that Gannow Bog Local Funding are giving us the chance to help people in my own neighbourhood meet new people, and spend a busy, friendly hour learning the art of Tai Chi.”
