What makes the feat even more impressive is that Carol Pinder, known as Caz to her friends, weighed 20 stone back in October, and has since been on a weight-loss mission.

After joining a gym, Carol is steadily getting fitter and has so far lost an impressive four stone, but she’s determined to lose another five.

“I am 52 years of age and I have struggled with my weight for most of my life,” said Carol.

“To keep myself on track I decided to set myself another personal goal which is to complete my first ever triathlon.”

Carol revealed that aside from staying motivated in losing weight, she wants to do this because Pendleside Hospice is a cause close to her heart.

She added: “I have lost a close friend to cancer and she spent several weeks at the hospice.

“The hospice continues to provide ongoing care and support to individuals and families who are experiencing difficult times due to illness which often ends with the death of a loved one.

“Without this continued support some families would find their experiences much more difficult to cope with.

“I would also like to say a really big thank you to On Yer Bike Cycles in Burnley for the sponsorship and support provided by them.”
