Students help out engineering firm

A leading Burnley engineering firm enlisted the help of university students at to collaborate on a manufacturing project.

BCW Engineering Ltd, of Bancroft Road, Burnley, recruited students from Blackburn College to help them prepare for a national trade show.

Five were selected by the company directors to work alongside BCW on the project. Their brief included designing, costing, managing, producing and installing an exhibition stand for the Subcon trade show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The Subcon trade show is the UK’s leading exhibition of its kind dedicated to contract and subcontract manufacturing.

Bosses at BCW, which specialises in automotive, aerospace, aero-engines and off-road vehicles, say the collaboration was such a huge success that they intend to link up with the university centre again.
