Snow fell earlier today across the Pennines but further flurries have fallen across lower ground across the region.

A yellow weather warning for snow had been issued by the Met Office for large parts of Lancashire and the North-West as huge areas of southern England continued to be hit by wet weather and floods.

Freezing temperatures could set in overnight and more snow showers are predicted by forecasters.

A warning for ice and widespread frost has also been issued.
