Snow leads to traffic chaos

Emergency services had to deal with a number of accidents across the region with one motorist having to be airlifted to hospital after a serious accident on the M65.

The man’s Subaru skidded out of control on a slip road off the M65 and ended up on its roof in a field around 7-50am at junction six near the Whitebirk roundabout.

The air ambulance was called to the scene to transport the man, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, to hospital.

Two fire engines and two crews from Blackburn and Hyndburn attended and helped paramedics carry the man to the air ambulance.
