Snow and ice causes rush-hour disruption

An overnight and early morning snowfall has caused disruption to motorists travelling to and from Burnley this morning.

Commuters faced long tailbaks on the M65 motorway in both directions and main roads into town also saw delays.

A gritter was working its way westwards on the M65 and others were in operation on other main routes.

There was heavy congestion on the A682 in both directions and also between the A56 Leeds Road, Nelson, and Junction 13 of the M65.

There were also reports of ice on the M65 eastbound from Junction 5.
