Single mum (38) admits child sex charge

Linda Whatton, of Sandpiper Square, Burnley, admitted one charge of sexual activity with a child, between August and September last year, at Burnley Crown Court.

Whatton, who has teenage children, was bailed until July 29th, for a pre-sentence report. She was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.

The defendant, who had no previous convictions, must not contact the boy or go within 50m of his home in Burnley.

Judge Simon Newell told her: ”All sentences, including custody, will be available to the court, but if it is to be custody, it will not be an immediate sentence of custody.”
