Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of 5k, 10k and Pretty Muddy events which raises millions of pounds every year.

Rhian Coathup, Event Manager for Race for Life in the North-West, said: “We are thrilled that so many women have entered Race for Life in Burnley, but we still have places left.”

In 2014, 1000 women took part and helped raise £51,000. This year, they hope to beat that to help Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists make advances in research which will help more people survive.

The atmosphere will be full of emotion as participants wear signs on their backs declaring their reasons for taking part. Many will be remembering loved ones who have died. Race for Life is not competitive and you can walk, jog, or run around the course if you like. It is all about the feel-good factor that comes from being part of the “pink army”.

The charity is also encouraging women to bag up clothes, books and accessories they no longer use and take them to the Donation Station at Towneley.

Each bag of goods could help raise up to £25 for research. Every participant receives a donation bag, along with a Gift Aid form. To enter visit www.raceforlife.org or call 0300 123 0770.
