Shotguns stolen in Burnley house raid

Police are asking for the public’s help to try to locate two shotguns and ammunition stolen during a house burglary in Burnley.

Once inside, the offenders forced open the lock to a firearms cabinet from which they stole Beretta 12 gauge shotgun with a black double barrel and brown woodwork; a Weihrauch HW77 air rifle with a telescopic viewer attached and 25 rounds of shotgun ammunition on a leather belt with “best wishes” written on it in marker pen.

Also taken during the incident was more than £200 in cash and some white gold sapphire earrings.

DS Tom Edmondson, from Burnley CID, said: “We don’t believe the property was purposely targeted for these weapons and I would like to reassure people we are doing everything we can to locate those responsible and the items.

“I urge anyone with information to come forward and would say that if you are offered shotguns for sale that match the description of the ones stolen, contact the police.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log reference 1137 of January 14th.
