Shot PC celebrates Christmas at home with family

Suzanne Hudson, who was educated at Mansfield High School, Brierfield, and whose parents still live in Nelson, had been undergoing treatment in Leeds General Infirmary since the incident, but was allowed home on Christmas Eve.

As she was discharged, Chief Supt Paul Money, Leeds District Commander, said: “Assistant Chief Constable Mark Milsom and I visited Suzanne in hospital and she had made excellent progress, so much so her consultant was happy for her to be discharged in time for Christmas.

“She is in good spirits and is looking forward to Christmas at home with her family. She is overwhelmed by all the messages of support and best wishes she has received from colleagues and others.

“She will require further hospital treatment as she continues to recover but that will be as an outpatient. It is great news that she is now out of hospital and we wish her all the best for her continued recovery.”

A 37-year-old man from Leeds is in custody in connection with the shooting and is expected to go on trial in April.
