Second Nelson jewellery shop raided

POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary at a jewellery shop in Nelson in the early hours of yesterday.

The offence took place around 1-30 a.m when a group of four or five masked men forced entry into Answars Jewellers, in Every Street, Nelson, damaging the metal security shutters and smashing a window.

Once inside they escaped with a substantial quantity of Asian jewellery.

Police believe at least two vehicles were used to commit the offence including a green or dark-coloured saloon and a white combi van which was abandoned nearby.

DS Nick Hodgeson, of Pennine CID, said: “This was a carefully planned and orchestrated burglary and I would appeal to anybody with any information which could assist us with our investigation to come forward.

“In particular would appeal to anybody that saw a green or dark-coloured saloon and a white combi van in Nelson around the time of the offence to come forward.”
