Saluki walk helps cannine friends

Setting off from St Peter’s Methodist Church in Earby on Saturday, the two hour trail took in Kelbrook and Sough and £394 was raised to help the rehousing of Salukis which have fallen on hard times.

Local dogs of all breeds and their owners were invited to take part in the event which saw one of its best ever turnouts.

After the walk, the group returned to the church for fun classes and competitions such as the most handsome dog, the prettiest bitch, a raffle, best animal photograph and a Saluki Welfare quiz and welfare stall.

A fish and chip supper was served up and David Hartley, Chairman of the Northern Saluki Club, said everybody had enjoyed the day: “We had a really good turnout and I think one of the best. It was a successful day and money raised will go to Saluki Welfare in the north.”
