Salterforth barge death ‘no longer suspicious’

Police are no longer treating the death of a woman on a canal barge in Salterforth as suspicious.

Officers were called out at shortly after 8am on Friday to a report of the sudden death of 47-year-old Victoria Lobley on the canal barge close to the Anchor Inn in Salterforth.

A post mortem examination carried out proved inconclusive in revealing an exact cause of death but police say there was no evidence of any violence.

It is now believed at that she may have died from a medical condition.

A 64-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
