Ribble Valley land owner dies aged 93

Miss Worsley-Taylor inherited an estate of around 1,400 acres in the Hodder Valley, which has been in her family for many years.

In her younger years, she had travelled extensively, mainly to Switzerland and Italy, but she also loved her own estate and her cottage in the village.

She had been a member of the Women’s Institute at Bashall Eaves and a trustee of Waddington Almshouses, and was also a supporter of Lancashire Wildlife Trust and the local Young Farmers’ club.

Speaking to The Clitheroe Advertiser and Times this week, her family said: “She took a great interest in the wildlife on her estate, particularly the birds. She also enjoyed being in the village among her tenants, and was never happier than at a party at the village hall.

“She will be very much missed.”

Mr Robert Parker, owner of Browsholme Hall, added: “She was loved, respected and admired, by the village and by her tenants.

“She had been a huge support to the village over a number of years.”

She is survived by a niece, Annette Shiels.

A private family cremation will be held, and there will be a service of thanksgiving for her life at 3 pm on Friday June 20th at All Hallows Church, Mitton.
